Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about our commercial collection services, the process, and what to expect.
What types of debts does California Recoveries handle?
We focus on commercial (business-to-business) debts owed to California businesses — typically unpaid invoices under a contract, invoice, or account statement. We do not handle consumer debt collection.
What do I need to submit an account?
The debtor's business name and contact details, the balance and how old it is, a copy of the invoice or contract, and a short summary of the collection attempts you have already made.
How long does the collection process take?
There is no standard timeline. Responsiveness of the debtor, whether the balance is disputed, the quality of your documentation, and whether a payment arrangement is reached all affect how an account progresses. We share updates as things develop rather than promise a fixed number of days.
Do you guarantee that a debt will be recovered?
No. No collection service can honestly guarantee an outcome — a debtor may be disputing the balance, unresponsive, or unable to pay. We review each account upfront so expectations are realistic before work begins.
Will I be updated on my account?
Yes. You receive updates as your account moves through each stage, including disputes or decisions that need your input.
Do you handle consumer or personal debts?
No. Our work is limited to commercial accounts between businesses.
Do you provide legal advice or file lawsuits?
We do not provide legal representation. If a situation appears to require an attorney, we will tell you so you can decide on next steps independently.
Which areas of California do you serve?
We work with businesses statewide — wherever your company and your debtor are located within California, subject to reviewing each account individually.
